767 AC Repair Contractors in Atlanta, GA

Atlanta's summer heat pushes residents indoors, where air conditioning becomes essential survival gear rather than mere comfort. The city logs roughly 47 days each year when temperatures climb past 90 F, and humidity drives the heat index even higher, forcing HVAC systems to run continuously for months at a stretch. With 978 contractors serving the metro area and a collective average rating of 3.5 across more than 85,000 reviews, AC Repair in Atlanta has grown into a competitive, high-demand trade where choosing the right technician separates a comfortable home from a sweltering one.

When an Atlanta homeowner faces a malfunctioning AC unit, the first expense is the diagnostic or service call fee, typically ranging from $75 to $200. From there, costs escalate based on what the system needs, recharging refrigerant in an R-410A system runs $150 to $700, while a failing capacitor replacement runs $120 to $450. Georgia law adds another layer of protection: the State Board of Conditioned Air Contractors requires technicians to hold either a Class I restricted or Class II unrestricted license, with Class I requiring four years of experience and Class II requiring five years minimum before a contractor can legally work on cooling systems in the state.

Customer feedback reveals clear leaders in the market. Mr. Plumber draws praise from a base where over 95% of reviewers award five stars, with technicians Jason and Kandel Evens mentioned by name across multiple positive mentions for same-day service and diagnostic skill. Estes Services maintains a 4.9 average across nearly 5,000 reviews, with consistent mentions of accurate diagnostics and quality installation work. Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup earns nearly universal praise for diagnostic expertise, with technicians Mike and Jonathan specifically credited for identifying problems that previous contractors missed.
